Dear Tennis players and Parents:
We are excited and ready for the upcoming tennis season and want to inform you about the upcoming events, uniform/equipment requirements, and rules and expectations of the players. Our first practice is Monday, September 8th. All players should be there on the 8th with their racquets and all of the appropriate tennis gear with them, as we will begin practice after a short meeting in H206. Please make sure the athlete’s have a current physical on file with nurse White and sign up for Girls Tennis in EduTrak.
The girls will be able to store their racquets, water bottles, and gear in Coach Dolney’s room. I have cabinet space reserved for the players and they should bring their gear up and put it in the cabinet before school each day and they can pick it up after school before heading out to practice or matches.
Our practice times are Monday through Friday 3:30-4:45pm. If it is raining and/or too wet to play, we will cancel practice for the day. An announcement will be made prior to the end of the school day. Dakota Hills Middle School activity buses will take the players home after practices at 5:00 or students can arrange rides or walk home after practice and matches.
A schedule of matches will be posted and is subject to change. When we have an away match scheduled, it is very important that the players and parents communicate to make arrangements for transportation home. If your child will take the bus back to DHMS, please be at the school by approximately 5:30 pm to pick them up as we will arrive too late to catch the activity buses. If you would like to take your child home directly from a match you may do that. In order to do this, you must sign a consent form. We will have these available for you online in the Release of Liability Form section.
As in the past, we will be offering Wildcat Tennis t-shirts for approximately $13.00, and the shirts are yours to keep at the end of the season. However, the girls will be responsible for supplying their own tennis shorts with pockets.
We also are asking the players to donate a sleeve or two of new, unopened tennis balls. Penn Championship Extra Duty Felt balls can be purchased at Target or Walmart for about $3.00 a can. Due to budget cuts of a few years back, these are no longer provided to us for practice or matches. Our thanks to you in advance!
If a player has an appointment or an illness, it would be greatly appreciated if the parents would email us letting us know of any conflicts. We are looking forward to a super season. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at:

About the Program
Who: 7th and 8th grade girls
Season: Monday, Sept. 8th through October 24th
Practice: 3:30 - 4:45 p.m. (May be subject to change depending The High School schedule and bussing)
- In the past, we have had a large number of girls out for tennis. If this is the case again this season, we will be making two teams and after the first week of full team practice, we will split the squad into our Blue and Green teams. We then will make a daily schedule so you will know what days your daughter will have practices and matches for each week throughout the season.
- We will have practice or a match every day Monday - Friday. The only exception will be due to inclement weather.
Games: Matches will be held against the other middle schools and once we receive the final schedules, they will be posted on our website.
Signup: Girls Tennis is $110, payable in EduTrak.
Sports Physical Required: A sports physical must be on file before you can register on EduTrak. Completed physicals which have been signed by a physician can be dropped off at the school nurse's office.
